This family have our budget model, the Eco 250e installed just over 3 months ago. They have 2 small children. Prior to having the system installed, they were relying on oil and immersion to heat the water.

Although not ideal, the cylinder is located in their shed, roughly 10 metres from the house. As it was particularly cold in January and early February (with overnight temperatures down to –3 degrees Celsius) there was some additional heat loss on this solar panel system over a system where the cylinder is installed directly in the main house.

The water consumption averaged out at 180L per day. The average power used was 134KWH per month over February and March. Temperatures ranged from –3 degrees Celsius up to a massive high of 17 degrees Celsius on the 29th March. The average was 7 degrees Celsius over the 2 months.

Running costs stand at €257 per annum on this particular installation. Due to the nature of the cylinder location, we are fitting a timer on this system to reduce the power consumption.  We are confident of getting running costs closer to the €200 mark by fitting this.
