Panel fitted to traditional slate roof.

The Walsh Family, Co. Laois:

The Walsh family had a 280im system installed in their home in May 2010. The customer kindly offered to note how much electricity the system was using during the 1st 3-4 months to give us an indication on running costs.

There are 3 people living at home in the Walsh household, with a fourth normally being at home at the weekends. They would use average amounts of hot water, showering each day, and using some hot water for washing dishes etc.

The system used an average 2.8KW per day over the first 17 weeks of installation. This amounted to €48.86 (electric rate the customer had was 16.46c) This amounts to €149.45 per annum. This reading was taken at a good time of year, so we would estimate the overall running cost to be closer to €180 per annum.

The customer has noted that along with large savings on oil and electricity, they have a lot more hot water now available at their disposal.
